Founded in the early 1990s in Gloucester (UK) and Florida (USA), COPA currently supports two communities in the Dominican Republic (La Hoya and Bombita). Short and long term volunteers work alongside local professionals to provide education and health care.
As a Christian organisation, COPA seeks to share God's love and care for the communities of La Hoya and Bombita.
Over the last two decades COPA has grown through a working partnership between committees in the UK, Guernsey and the USA that provide support and fundraising for the project in the Dominican Republic.

Changing children’s prospects forever
Are you passionate about developing teaching and learning within primary education? Joining the COPA team now would enable you to be part of an exciting new project to build a school for the profoundly deaf in the neighbouring town of Barahona. We are looking to appoint a teacher with primary or middle school experience to assist the head teachers in evaluating the needs of their school with regard to teaching and learning, working alongside teachers to improve their teaching skills and organise training workshops. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone to use their experience to inspire fellow colleagues to provide a rich, stimulating learning environment to the benefit of such needy children and change their prospects forever. Full job description available.
